About Mehran Movassaghi, MD
Certified by the American Board of Urology, Mehran Movassaghi, MD, is currently the Director of Providence St. John’s Men’s Health Center in Santa Monica and is a fellowship-trained urologist who has vast experience with endourology and men’s health.
After years of urologic surgery training, Dr. Movassaghi is familiar with every facet of men’s urologic disease. With his experience, he has learned that many complaints, like urinary complaints, prostate issues, and erectile dysfunction, are all connected with other conditions that require a thorough assessment and health maintenance program to achieve the best results for each patient. Dr. Movassaghi believes our body is the most complex piece of machinery ever made, and each system depends on the other for peak performance. Screening, education, and early treatment are the most effective means for longevity and optimal quality of life.
It seems to Dr. Movassaghi that few other medical centers have recognized yet how various types of disorders may be symptoms of something more serious. He began the first of its kind comprehensive men’s health program in the Los Angeles area with the Los Angeles Men’s Health Center and is happy to bring his services to the Providence Saint John’s Health Center Santa Monica. He says, “Essentially, we are a one-stop-shop for men’s health needs, including prevention, maintenance, and treatment.” He is also the founder of the Los Angeles Prostate Cancer 5K and is an advocate of prevention for both urologic and other forms of chronic illness.
Dr. Movassaghi earned his medical degree from the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California, followed by an internship at the Stanford University Hospital & Clinics, Stanford, CA. He completed two residencies, one at the LAC & USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and the other at the Stanford University Hospital & Clinics in Stanford, California. He subsequently completed his fellowship at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in Urology.
He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Urological Association, the American Society for Men’s Health, and the Endourological Society. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in endourology, quality of life, and integrative medicine throughout his tenure.
Dr. Movassaghi speaks Persian and Spanish in addition to English.
